The Matthew George Young Stockman Award was established in 2008 as a sub-fund of The Ballarat Foundation to give young breeders an opportunity to undertake an overseas study tour with the objective of bettering Australian beef cattle breeding practices. It was Matthews’ dream to travel overseas and learn about other beef breeding programs, developments and practices, and then to share what he learnt with his fellow breeders back home, with the aim of bettering the Australian beef industry.
This award gives someone the opportunity to live Matthew’s dream as well as becoming an ambassador for the beef industry.
If you are a young breeder or working within the the beef industry and have a strong interest and long term commitment to the Australian Beef Cattle Industry, and are aged between 18 – 25, then make sure you apply for this award. Applications for this years’ MGYSA are now open and close on June 30th. The opportunities that come with this award are whatever you make it!
